1 Day Trekking - Kuang Si Waterfall
This is a wonderful day hike outside of Luang Prabang with the most famous waterfall in Laos, Tad Kuang Si, as the ultimate highlight! Along the way you will visit local villages, enjoy mountain landscapes, learn about a Fair Trek project site, and many more adventures. An exciting forest trail leads you to the end of your trek and your reward : the welcoming and refreshing turquoise pools of Kuang Si Waterfall. 3-4 hours of trekking makes this a perfect day tour not far outside of Luang Prabang. Discover the beautiful nature just outside of Luang Prabang on this one day Fair Trek hiking tour.
You will explore rice paddies and locally cultivated farmland, as well as dense forests, on your way to the breathtaking Kuang Si waterfalls - the most famous waterfall in Laos.
This is a day hike that leaves everyone amazed, even those who start out thinking that 'it's just another waterfall'.
Kuang Si waterfall - trekking - Luang PrabangStarting from Luang Prabang, we drive to the nearby valley southeast of Luang Prabang. After a short and scenic ride, we arrive at the Long Lao Village where we begin our hiking tour. Before trekking we can explore the life and culture of this village where Khamu and Hmong people live.
Continue trekking into the mountainous Lao countryside of Luang Prabang. Hiking along you will pass orchards of rubber trees, rice fields, and vegetable gardens before reaching the forested mountains with quite wild jungle scenery and some steeper climbs.
In the afternoon you will arrive at the crystal clear Kuang Si Waterfall. An exciting forest trail leads you to the end of your trek and your reward - the welcoming and refreshing turquoise pools of Kuang Si Waterfall where we will have plenty of time to relax and swim.
While in the Kuang Si Waterfall park, you should visit the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Sanctuary. You can find great information about Asian sun and moon bears and the Free the Bears protection program. You are welcome to support the project with a donation or by buying a real "Free The Bears" T-Shirt.
We’ll return late afternoon by vehicle with a stop along the way for a guided tour of a small Hmong Museum built by locals to show their life and culture.
Total trekking distance is 9 km (5.5 mi) medium difficulty, slippery when wet. Bring good hiking shoes and a swimming suit!
