Cooking Class In Vientiane

Morning class: 9.00-13.00
Evening class: 15.00-19.00

In Vientiane Hotel area we pick you up for ride car/tuk tuk to the local market, where you’ll spend some time exploring fresh foods, learn about ingredients before your cooking lesson begins. You will learn about typical meats, vegetable and dry goods that locals use in their daily meals including pa daek, a fermented fish sauce traditionally used in Lao cuisine…

Surprise your taste buds while sampling seasonal foods as you learn more about Lao culture and eating etiquette. Then head to the Mekong riverside for your lesson, using traditional cooking implements to create a variety of popular Lao dishes.

Enjoy a complimentary drink upon arrival at the kitchen, where you’ll master the art of making perfect sticky rice, or khao niaow, an important dish in Laos. Your cooking instructor demonstrates how to prepare each dish, including tam mak houng (spicy papaya salad) and ping gai (barbecued chicken), mok pa (fish steamed in banana leaf) and either jeow mak lin or jeow mak keua (tomato or eggplant dip).

Complete your hands-on lesson with an authentic dessert: mango or banana with sticky rice, steamed in a banana leaf. Buy a Lao beer or nonalcoholic drink, then go sprawl out under a shady mango tree to eat lunch and watch village life along Mekong River Road.
